 Policies of Google AdSense:

1. Introduction:

Google AdSense has a unique set of policies that are very help-worthy for its users. The users of Google AdSense are called publishers. They are required to strictly follow the list of Google AdSense program and publisher policies. If mistakenly, the publishers fail to observe the policies, then their accounts from Google AdSense can be disabled at any time, leading to expulsion from the Google AdSense program. With authorization from Google, the terms and policies regarding Google AdSense can change at any time.

However, such websites will receive less advertisements as compared to the content having no restriction from Google.   •  Avoidance of invalid clicks and impressions:

Only a valid user other than the publisher himself can click on Google advertisement.   • Publisher should not encourage clicks or views:

  • Technical requirements by Google:

As they only allow those web sites which observe and follow these technical requirements. 3. Google Publisher Policies:

When publishers want to monetize their content with Google advertisement code. Then, they must follow the Google publisher policies.  If a publisher fails to follow these policies, then his advertisements can be blocked by Google leading to suspension of account. Google has created a unique free platform for helping publishers in monetizing their content. It has further helped the advertisers in reaching their customers with the related products and services. Google Publisher Policies includes, content policies, behavioral policies, privacy-related policies and requirements with other standards.

  • Content policies:

Firstly, publishers should follow some content related policies in order to monetize their websites and content. Content must not be illegal. There must be no intellectual property abuse. Dangerous and derogatory content spreading hate, vulgarity, advocating suicide and abuse would not be permitted. Misleading representation and harmful claims are strictly forbidden. Deceptive practices and dishonest content would be strictly forbidden. Malicious and unwanted software usage would also be discouraged.

  • Behavioral policies:

Secondly, information given by publishers must not contain any dishonest declarations. Advertisement given by Google must not interfere with other contents or user interactions. Advertisement given by Google should be with publisher content. Out of context advertisements are not permitted. Repeated material must be avoided in advertisements given by Google.  Further paid promotional material other than publisher content would not be allowed through Google AdSense publishing policies. Any material like advertisements which was not in supported languages would not be allowed by Google.

  • Privacy-related policies:

Thirdly, publishers should follow the privacy policy on any sort of data collection, sharing and happenings on any site, app and email publication. Publishers are not allowed to set a cookie on Google’s domains. They are also not allowed to change, check or remove the cookies already set on domain of Google. Publishers are not allowed to identify users according to Google AdSense publishing policies.

Google depends upon “Standard Contractual Clauses” (SCCs) for all the transfers of online advertising and measurements of personal data outside of European countries. If a publisher has utilized any Google advertising service on a site that follows the “Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act” (COPPA), then he must inform Google of those sites which follow COPPA.

  • Requirements and other standards:

Fourthly, publishers must follow “Webmaster Quality Guidelines”. Which forbids the placement of advertisements served by Google on screens that do not adhere to the “Webmaster Quality Guidelines”. Publishers must not apply advertisements served by Google on those screens containing abusive experiences.

Publishers are not allowed to apply advertisements given by Google on those platforms which fail to adhere to the “Better Ads Standards”. Publishers are not allowed to apply advertisements given by Google on those platforms which utilize ads.txt where they (publishers) are not related as an authentic seller of the inventory in the ads.txt file. Google publisher products are unavailable for publishers in Crimea, Cuba, Iran North Korea, and Syria. As Google complies with sanctions and export controls, controlled and levied by the “United States Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control” (OFAC) under “United States Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry & Security”. Individuals who are restricted due to sanctions on trade and export compliance laws are not allowed to use Google publisher products.


In conclusion, it is concluded that any publisher who wants to join the Google AdSense program should follow the special policies levied by Google. These policies had been implemented for ensuring the good experience of users, advertisers, and publishers. All these policies ensure the better and right working of Google AdSense by users.
