An additional sessions court on Wednesday granted bail to prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry, allowing him to be released from custody in connection with a sedition case.
The amount of bail was determined to be 20,000 rupees in exchange for a surety bond.
The Meetings Were Expanded After the Initial Round In this particular proceeding, the attorney for PTI leader Khalid Masood, Babar Awan, appeared in front of Judge Faizan Haider Gilani.
During the hearing, Judge Gilani said that he would grant bail to Fawad under the condition that he refrain from having that talk in the future.
Throughout the entirety of the hearing, both the ECP and the prosecution argued that Fawad should not be allowed to post bail.
Earlier this week, Fawad’s medical records were ordered by a district and sessions court in Islamabad. The court’s request was motivated by worries regarding Fawad’s health.
A previous decision made by a judicial magistrate, in which the magistrate had rejected the police request and ordered the former minister to be held in judicial custody in Adiala Jail, was reversed a week ago, and the police were given an additional two days of physical remand of the individual.
Fawad was hauled into arrest on January 25 from Lahore on charges of “inciting violence” against officials of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the chief election commissioner. The charges stemmed from Fawad’s comments made on January 24. (CEC).
An FIR, also known as a First Information Report, has been lodged against the head of the PTI at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad. Fawad was handed over to the police by an Islamabad judge after the judge granted a physical remand for two days.
When Fawad’s physical remand was about to expire, he was brought before Judicial Magistrate Raja, who decided to extend it by two days so that he might continue to be held in custody.
Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, issued a letter to Pakistan’s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial after Fawad was detained, requesting assistance in ensuring that Fawad’s “fundamental rights” were protected.
